Happy April Fool’s Day

Posted by Robert on April 1, 2013

This is a guest post by Robert, who lives in Calgary and worked as a financial adviser before retiring at age 35. He is married, has three kids and has returned to school with the goal of eventually living and working overseas.

Life is a game. Money is how we keep score.

Ted Turner

And if you’re planning to win, here are the rules, according to Turner:

Early to bed, early to rise, work like hell and advertise.

But don’t get too caught up on the scorecard:

Every few seconds it changes – up an eighth, down an eighth -it’s like playing a slot machine. I lose $20 million, I gain $20 million.

I sometimes think I would happily exchange my set of problems for his set of problems, but that’s only because I don’t understand what the problems of the ultra-rich are. At least I know my friends don’t just like me for my money.

So true. Sometimes we might be jealous of the ultra rich but when you look at them not all of them are happy. Piles of money and happiness doesn’t go hand in hand. Kudos to this site for promoting money as a means to an end, not the end itself.
