Interesting post, Tim. In general, I find being frugal more joyful than spending. We live in a culture of unengaged excess.. people slap more and more expensive toys and entertainment onto their days and keep having to up the ante to get a high. I say, strip all of that away, carve out time and make use of the hundreds of free things available to us everyday..

I find it curious that people equate living life to the fullest with spending money. Life costs money, but only a fraction of what many of us think it does.

Well i guess how you interpret the saying. To me it means not wasting time on excel trying to figure out the depreciation of a baking pan over its useful life.

Gary,

I appreciate your idea, but I dislike the phrase about live each day like it is your last. Because frankly no one would save anything if it were your last.

Remember the old saying"you only have one life to live" Better to enjoy life to its fullest while you still can.You don't have to break the bank to provide enjoyment for your family so long as you don't hamper their lifestyle with exsessive saving. I have watched many people hoard their money waiting for retirement but sadly they never made it to retirement. Take each day as it comes and live it like it could be your last.
